Spring is in the Air!

If anyone is like me, they are counting down the days until spring comes. Being able to put away the coats and the layer and be able to wear bright colors that just make you feel like your in a better mood. Looking at some of the trends you see a lot of bright colors paired with basic colors that make the bright colors pop.

Taking this casual wear that you can be seen in at the mall or even a fun night out with friends. Wearing skinny jeans with a light materialized long sleeve shirt. Making sure that it is not just a normal jeans and tee they add the scarf with the flower embellishment with a fun purse and leave earrings make it an it spring outfit.

Can someone say St Patrick's Day? Wearing these trendy pants which is colored makes all the difference these days on if you have trendiest attire.Wearing the green jeans with the flats that match with the floral prints. With brown accessories and a plain white button up it makes it casual chic and can be found on any trendy city trend setter.

Spring is known for weddings and graduations, where you have to dress and get ready to look your best because there is going to be a lot of photos taken. This coral dress is sophisticated and sleek all at the same time. Pairing with my favorite accessory a pair of nude platform heels. Adding some turquoise jewelry, which would seem to clash but when put together it comes together like a perfect puzzle piece.

Coming up an appropriate spring work attire is hard. Wearing this rose colored dress that is work appropriate length dress, with a white sweater and brown boots and purse with more aqua jewelry. Anyone can be ready to hit the work place and still be able to throw off the sweater and catch a bite to eat with your close friends.

Smile, Sparkle, Shine : The Oscars 2013

The stars did nothing short of 'sparkle' on the Red Carpet for this years Oscars. The color theme seemed to be neutral colors with hints of gold here and there. One of my favorites was Amanda Seyfried, who wore a lilac halter Alexander McQueen gown. It was an organza dress, embroidered with miniature dragonflies. Majority of the dresses had stunning, intricate detail that could not be missed. Some stars definitely took a risk but they ended up being worthwhile in the end. As we mentioned in last weeks post, bright colors are trending for the spring, and there was definitely a lot of pops of bright colors shown at the Oscars. Seen in mostly shades of pink and purple, is what set these gowns apart from the rest. Styles such as peplum and cut-out accents were featured but there was definitely more ruffles and sequins. There were a couple gowns that could have been spared but overall the fashion at the Oscars this year was a hit.

High Fashion for Less

Paris' fashion week is always helpful when picking out trends for the upcoming season but do you ever wonder how to achieve these styles without paying a fortune. Here is what you should be keeping an eye on for spring. Bold patters, especially stripes, are all the rage for the spring. These designs come from well known fashion designers but you can even find them in your local mall at Old Navy. Bold, vibrant colors is another thing you will see people sporting. Basically like you are living in the 80's with hot pinks, blues, and you can even find these styles at Ann Taylor. Shockingly, leather, the more the better, is in style but in spring colors of course. Classic black and white will never go out of style, whether it be a dress or pants and shirt. Calvin Klein offers this look, for a mere $100.00, which is not overwhelming for a designer. These are definitely some important items every girl should have in her closet this spring, so you better get to the store before they all sell out!

Peace Out Winter, Hello Spring!

Blizzard Nemo came as a shock to many especially since the groundhog did not see his shadow on February 2, 2013. Anyway, you would have never guessed that the storm had just occurred seeing as majority of retailers already have their spring clothing on display. Not only do you see spring clothing, but we are also starting to see the emergence of bathing suits. Can we just get through winter first? Apparently, retailers are tired of cold weather attire already. The good news is, now its time for sales and clearance items! All the clothing you wanted this winter but did not buy because of the high price, you can now buy on sale and saw for next winter. Winter was full of awesome styles, but I'm looking forward to seeing what spring will bring. Stay tuned for what you should be looking to put in your closet for the spring and summer!

White Lace Is Not Only For Walking Down the Aisle

Watch out! The new trend too look at for is white lace. It is a spin on a classic that is usually found while walking down the aisle you are catching the trend of white lace dresses down different red carpets and local trendsetters.  Becoming something that can be found on many wedding gowns again, even though it usually is titled vintage. Short dressed that are white lace are now becoming more and more common then just a plain white dress. Giving the classic spin on a modern trend it can make a dress from semi formal to make it appropriate for any event possible. Here some well known faces that are digging into the newest trend.

Here you see Selena Gomez at the Women of the Year Gala where she was stunning wearing a lace dress top with a flared out pencil skirt giving all the other women at the Glamour event a run for best dress.
Sophia Bush is known for being a firm believer in standing for a causing and using her fame to make the right difference in the world at a Rape Treatment Center fundraiser. Looking extremely professional and fully focusing on the charity instead of her outfit this three quarter sleeved lace gown.

J.Lo may be getting in trouble for her style choices at the Grammy's, but here Jennifer Lopez is doing everything right for what is hot right now. Wearing this revealing lace teacup dress pairs with pointy toed heals. Good thing there was no dress code for this event because by the turn of events J.Lo doesn't seem to follow them anyway.

Finally, Nina Debrov the good girl from the Vampire Diaries turned lace into something not so innocent. Compared to the first turn Nina wearing this to the Iheartradio event you can see that you can look sexy in a lace dress and strappy heals.

I think white lace dresses, or even the mini dresses are a trend that may not be going anywhere and that something we should all get used to. Luckily, it is a trend that I absolutely love and fall victim to purchasing this trend.

Best Dressed at the Grammy's

As of Sunday February 10th, 2013 the biggest night in music where Hollywood stops to appreciate all the hits from the previous year. The best dressed musicians show what daring fashion trends they are willing to take on the biggest night of music fashion. Even though this years Grammy's had a different requirement when it came to attire asking for the attendees to wear appropriate garments that will not show too much skin since they are attempting to get the awards back to good high class quality it is used to be at. Even though you will find different views on the best dressed at these events I decided to give the following women the best dressed at the Grammy's.

The best dress i chose to be:
1. Carrie Underwood
2. Rihanna
3. Taylor Swift

Carrie Underwood: Looking like a vintage movie star wearing a form fitting Roberto Cavalli gown and Jimmy Choo heels paired with diamond necklace by Jonathon Arndt. Carrie Underwood is never one to come out and make it on the worse dress list, but her classic looks always seem to surprise. She has a passion for fashion and looked absolutely classy in the Cavalli gown as she accepted her Grammy.

Rihanna: I was just as shocked as everyone else with the stunning red Azzedine Alaia gown which had her flare of sexy with the sheer chiffon patches. She complete abided by the rules of the Grammy's when she seems to always test the water. Pairing it off with long ombre hair with light waves through it. Absolutely, stunning well done Rihanna.

Taylor Swift: Wearing a Grecian inspired J. Mendel crème silk chiffon pleated gown with a plunging neckline and embroidered straps.Pairing with not much jewelry and metallic heels completed her angelic look. Taylor wore her hair in braids, giving the look a slightly boho chic look which is becoming more and more red carpet acceptable. She looked like a Grecian Goddess and seemed to enjoy her time at the Grammy's singing and dancing to every performance.

Welcome!

Hey there! We are Bridget Kane and Gianna Colgero. We are both highly interested in fashion and like being up to date on the most current trends. Here is a little about both of us.

I'm Bridget Kane and I'm a senior at Sacred Heart University graduating May 2013. I am a Business Administration Major and Marketing Major. I'm in hopes of starting a career in wedding planning eventually and will hope to use my attention to detail and passion in fashion to help me succeed as a wedding planner. I am from Middletown, NY originally and I obsessively check out new trends on as many websites, magazines and televisions shows. " “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”- Coco Chanel

I'm Gianna Colgero and a junior at Sacred Heart University. I am excited yet nervous to graduate in May 2014 because that is when real life begins. I am a Communications major and a Fashion Merchandising minor. In the future I hope to work as an editor with a well known fashion magazine such as Vogue or Elle.Aren't dreams supposed to be big? I am also interested in Public Relations and Advertising. I am from East Hanover, NJ and fashion and dance are a major part of my life. I have been dancing since I was three and have been interested in fashion since I started high school. If I am not doing my homework or other important things, you can always find me online shopping or at the mall. Sometimes I think it is a problem but hey, its just what I love. I am always perusing through fashion magazines to see what is "in style" for the season. You can also get a good sense by just going to the mall and see what is being displayed. Well enough about us, let's see what is trending this Spring.

One trend we have spotted for Spring 2013 is sporty dresses. These dresses have A-line skirts and shoulders showing off women's bodies. These sporty dresses seem to be well liked because you can wear them with wedges and high-heeled sandals AND you can wear them with a cute pair of canvas sneakers, so you can endure comfort while being fashionable. You can find these dresses at inexpensive stores such as Forever 21 or at expensive designer stores such as BCBG and Calvin Klein. Sporty dresses can be worn by anyone, it does not matter if you are rich are poor. With that being said we leave you with this.
